Address: pl. Wolności 1 , 88-400 Żnin
Znin symbol. In the Middle Ages, the brick tower served as the seat of the city authorities - the town hall. It was built around 1445. On the top floor of the tower, in the 18th century, a clock was set up, with a bell decorated with an inscription commemorating the city fire in 1751 and plaques with the image of St. Wacław and the coat of arms of Znin. It was a safe haven for files and other city documents, the treasury and city authorities. A municipal prison operated in the underground. The tower became the first seat of the Pałuck Land Museum - an institution whose creation in the 1960s was the culmination of many years of efforts and the fulfillment of the dreams of activists of the Pałuck branch of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society. Later, the museum became a branch of the District Museum Leon Wyczółkowski, and in the early 90s the institution administered by the commune of Żnin. Currently, you can see an exhibition here devoted to the history of Znin from the earliest times. Gathered here among others relics testifying to the first traces of settlement in Pałuki - the result of many years of archaeological research in the region. Interesting is also the history of the local Fowler Brotherhood - one of the oldest in Greater Poland, founded by burghers - craftsmen and merchants in 1424. The museum exhibition presents insignia, medals and registers from the late 18th century. Souvenirs related to the Greater Poland Uprising are a separate exhibition. The exhibition in the town hall tower is supplemented with a section devoted to outstanding figures of Znin and the region. On the top floor of the town hall tower you can see the clock mechanism. The windows offer views of the tenement houses surrounding the Harvest Market and the waters of the Small Lake Żniński. Sightseeing after prior notification.
