Interactive Fisheries Museum in Biskupin

The Interactive Fisheries Museum in Biskupin was established as a private initiative of dr inż. Henryk Sobolewski. Its purpose is to present in an accessible, modern form a broad cultural spectrum related to fisheries, fish symbolism and the culture of fishing and exploitation of lakes in Poland. The exhibition's substantive background is the scientific and practical achievements of Mr. Henry, ichthyologist and long-term president of Fisheries Holding in Łysinin. Visiting the museum is an interactive journey through the world of lakes and history, which we begin by looking into the home of a nineteenth-century fisherman, getting to know his family and participating in preparing for a meal. The exhibition is divided into smoothly merging thematic sectors, bringing key issues closer in a visually and sonically attractive way Visitors will learn, among others, the main fishing techniques and technologies, freshwater fish species and morphology, the characteristics of the flora and fauna of Polish lakes, and the secrets of popular fishing art. In addition, they will have the opportunity to go on a cruise with an old fisherman and listen to his talk, get to know 50 the history of the Fisheries Farm in Lysinin and will see the private collection of the collection of P. Henryk Sobolewski. Outside the museum there is an unusual, giant maze of fishing nets, whose travel will provide extraordinary experiences to both children and adults.
